Cabbage, fried in batter or bread crumbs, can be used as a side dish for meat and as an independent dish. For cooking in this way, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts or white cabbage are most often taken.

    • For cooking in batter:
    • cabbage - 500 grams;
    • flour - 1 glass;
    • water - 1 glass;
    • egg - 1 piece;
    • vegetable oil - 1 glass;
    • salt and spices to taste.
    • To cook in breadcrumbs:
    • cabbage - 500 grams;
    • milk - 0.5 cups;
    • egg - 2 pieces;
    • bread crumbs - 1 glass;
    • vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons;
    • salt to taste.

Instructions

Step 1

Start battering the cabbage by preparing a mixture in which you will dip the pieces of vegetables. Sift flour through a sieve, beat egg and salt. Pour warm water into the egg and, while continuing to mix the batter, gradually add flour to it. The prepared mass should stand at room temperature for forty minutes or an hour.

Step 2

Wash the cauliflower and sort it into medium-sized inflorescences so that the diameter of the widest part of a single piece is about three to four centimeters. If you are going to roast Brussels sprouts, cut the miniature heads off the stem so that the leaves do not fall apart. In white cabbage, remove the stalk and cut the head into three to four large pieces.

Step 3

Bring water to a boil, add salt. You can dip bay leaf and allspice black pepper in boiling water. Place the prepared cauliflower in the water and boil it for three minutes. The inflorescences removed from boiling water should remain crispy. Boil large pieces of white cabbage for ten minutes. Pour brussels sprouts with salted boiling water with spices, remove from heat and wait for the pan to cool.

Step 4

Remove prepared vegetables from water and drain. If you are using white cabbage, take it apart into layers two to three leaves thick so that the leaves do not fall apart and cut into small pieces.

Step 5

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan, dip pieces of vegetables in batter and fry in hot oil. Cabbage prepared in this way goes well with cold sour cream.

Step 6

Cauliflower or cabbage boiled in salted water can be fried in breadcrumbs. If there are no ready-made crackers in the kitchen, they can be replaced with dried bread grated on a fine grater. If this product is not at hand either, cut fresh bread into cubes and dry it in a preheated oven until golden brown. Grind the finished croutons with a meat grinder.

Step 7

Beat eggs with milk and dip prepared vegetables in this mixture. Dip the cabbage quickly in breadcrumbs and sauté in vegetable oil.
