Do you prefer natural homemade jam, but do not like to bother with making it for a long time, are you afraid that it will burn or there will be any other problems? Cook it using a microwave oven, so you will save energy and nerves, quickly and easily getting the desired result.
Microwave Jam and Jam Recipes
To make a mixed berry jam in the microwave, take 500 g of frozen or fresh berry mixture, the ingredients of which, for example, can be: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and black currants. You will also need 500 g of sugar and the juice of half a lemon.
Rinse fresh berries gently and peel them off. If the raw material is frozen, place it in a flat dish, cover and thaw. Heat the berries for 4-5 minutes on full microwave power. Then grind them until you get a berry puree and put the resulting mass in a mold. Mix berry puree with sugar and lemon juice and simmer for 6-7 minutes at full power. Pour the hot jam into the jars.
If you want to make blueberry jam, use 125 g of berries and 100 g of brown sugar for 6-8 servings. Thoroughly mix the blueberries with sugar, place the resulting mass in a microwave oven. Cook blueberry jam on medium power for 10 minutes.
You can also make delicious gooseberry jam in the microwave. To do this, take 1 kg of berries, the same amount of sugar and 300 ml of water. Boil liquid syrup with 300 ml of water and 200 g of sugar; this will take 6-9 minutes at full oven power. Place the selected gooseberries in the syrup and simmer in it for 8-10 minutes, until the berries begin to burst. Add the remaining sugar to the mass, stir and cook the jam for 15-20 minutes at full power, during this time stir it 2-3 times.
To make cranberry jam in the microwave, you need 1 kg of berries, 1 kg of sugar and 200 ml of water. Simmer the cranberries in water for 10 minutes at medium power until the berries burst. Heat the sugar for 10 minutes using the full power setting and add to the hot cranberries. Stir the resulting mixture and cook the jam until thickened for 15-20 minutes at maximum power level.
You can also cook jam in the microwave from raspberries. To do this, prepare 250 g of berries and the same amount of sugar. Combine the raspberries and sugar, cover the saucepan and cook for 5 minutes at maximum power.
A few tips for making preserves and jams in the microwave
Use a large and low bowl to make preserves and marmalades in the microwave, and remember to check that the food is cooked frequently. Do not try to cook more than 1.5 kg of berries at a time. Place the raw materials for jam in a saucepan with handles, it should be at least 4 liters in volume.
For soft berries, additional liquid is not required, for those that have a peel, such as plums or gooseberries, you may need about 50 ml of water or syrup per 450 g of fruit.
Keep in mind that jellies and jams reach very high temperatures and heat up the dishes a lot. Be sure to wear gloves when placing or removing a container of jam or jam from the microwave.
