Recipe for making candied lemon fruits

To make candied lemon fruits, you need a minimum amount of ingredients - lemons, sugar and water. Please note that lemons should be rinsed as thoroughly as possible before use, using a regular toothbrush. The peel of the lemon will not be cut off, so it must be cleaned as much as possible from dirt.

Soak lemons in cold water for 30-40 minutes before using. Then carefully cut each fruit into rings. The ideal thickness of the slices is 0.5 cm. Too thin slices may not retain the desired shape.

In a small saucepan, combine 300 ml of water and one glass of sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil and wait until the crystals are completely dissolved. Place the lemon wedges in the syrup. Boil the workpiece for 15-20 minutes, stirring slightly. Do not rush to immediately extract lemons from syrup. In a sweet liquid, they should be infused for 30 minutes.

Put the lemon blanks on a paper napkin and leave to dry for several hours, sprinkle them with sugar or powdered sugar. The lemon wedges should be completely dry and slightly hardened. Cut the finished candied fruit into small cubes or half rings.

Candied lemon peels

If you love lemon tea or are just a fan of this citrus fruit, don't rush to throw away the peel. Lemon peels can be periodically frozen in the refrigerator, and when the required amount is accumulated, delicious candied fruits can be prepared from them.

The main difference between the recipe for making candied fruits from lemon peels and treats made from whole fruits is the period of preliminary soaking. Lemon peels are best left in cold water for at least two days. During this time, bitterness is completely released from them. Please note that the water must be periodically changed to clean water.

Place the lemon peels in a small saucepan after settling. In this case, you can use the water in which the workpieces have been soaked. Add sugar in such a way that a very sweet and rich syrup is obtained during the boil.

Boil lemon peels for 30-40 minutes. During this process, foam may appear, which simply needs to be removed with a spoon. Allow the syrup to cool and place the lemon peels on a dry baking sheet. Dry the pieces in the oven for a few minutes. Cut the peels of the lemons into strips or cubes, sprinkle with sugar and place in a bowl.

Homemade candied lemon can be turned into a sweet gift. To do this, you need small transparent bags or boxes. You can decorate the package as you like, and add multicolored icing balls to the candied fruit mixture.
