Brigadeiro (or Brigadeiros) is a very popular Brazilian delicacy that no children's birthday is complete without, and these delicious homemade sweets are very popular at other family celebrations as well. The dessert got its name in honor of Eduardo Gomes, a Brazilian military leader who at one time had the rank of brigadier general (brigadeiro), and then rose to the rank of air marshal. Making Brigadeiro at home is very simple, one might say, elementary, but you need quality ingredients.

It is necessary

  • - 380 g of high-quality condensed milk
  • - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of butter (softened)
  • - 3-4 tbsp. tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • - chocolate or multi-colored pastry sprinkles

Instructions

Step 1

Use a pan that is thick enough to prevent food from burning to the surface. Mix condensed milk, butter and cocoa powder in it. Place the container on a low stove heat.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously with a silicone spatula. Then reduce heat to low and keep the sweet mixture on the stove for another 10 minutes. Remember to stir the contents of the dishes constantly. As a result, a sufficiently thick and smooth mass should be formed, evenly colored with cocoa.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from heat and let cool. Then place in the refrigerator for 40 minutes, you can for an hour. Remove the cooled mass from the refrigerator.

Step 4

Melt some butter and grease your hands. Now separate small pieces from the mass and roll into balls about the size of a walnut or slightly larger. It is very convenient to do this with oil hands. To make the balls smoother, you can roll them over the surface of a glass cutting board.

Step 5

Thoroughly roll the resulting candies in confectionery sprinkles (instead of it, chopped nuts or coconut flakes can be used to decorate the candies). Place on a flat dish and refrigerate, keep candy there until serving.
