It is necessary

Ginger root, peeler / spoon / stiff brush

Instructions

Step 1

Take ginger root, wash it in cool water (hot water is undesirable for any vegetables and root vegetables). Next, with a sharp knife, carefully cut off all the branches from the root. Small ones are no longer useful, do not throw away large branches, peel them in the same way as the main part of the root crop, and use them in the preparation of various dishes, tea, etc.

Step 2

The first option for peeling the ginger root is with a peeler Take the prepared ginger and peel off the peel from top to bottom with a peeler. With this method of cleansing ginger, you can use a knife (it must be sharp). When using a knife, pay attention to the thickness of the cut skin - it should not exceed a couple of millimeters, otherwise you will begin to cut off the natural protective layer of the root crop, which helps to retain useful essential oils in it.

Step 3

The second option is to peel the ginger with a regular tablespoon. To do this, squeeze the ginger root, previously washed and free from unnecessary branches, with your left hand. Take a tablespoon in the right one so that your thumb rests on its convex part. Then, holding the spoon firmly in your hand, begin to scrape the ginger, much like you do with new potatoes. In this cleaning option, as in the previous one, you can use a knife, but not sharp and with light pressure.

Note that you need to remove a thin layer of the top skin without affecting the usable part of the root crop.

Step 4

Another way to cleanse the ginger is to use a stiff brush. In this simplest way, the ginger root will retain the maximum of essential oils and, therefore, beneficial substances. Using a stream of cool water, rub the root vegetable with light pressure with a brush. The peel will come off the root vegetable in a thin layer, leaving its desired part practically unaffected.
