Zeppelin is a national Lithuanian dish that gets its name from its shape, which is very similar to the famous aircraft. It's delicious, nutritious and healthy. Any Lithuanian girl must be able to cook it, but today it is becoming popular in Russian families as well. Someone might say that zeppelins are very similar to zrazy. Indeed, there are some similarities, but there are also differences.

It is necessary

    • For the zeppelin themselves:
    • potatoes - 2 kg;
    • minced meat (preferably pork) - 500 g;
    • onion - 1 pc;
    • citric acid - ½ tsp;
    • starch - 2 tablespoons;
    • salt
    • ground black pepper
    • For the sauce you will need:
    • lard - 150 g;
    • bulbs - 2-3 pcs;
    • sour cream - 1 glass.

Step 1

Take a few potato tubers, boil them and mash them in mashed potatoes. Leave to cool. In the meantime, grate the remaining potatoes on a fine grater, squeeze out the excess liquid well, add starch. Stir the boiled and raw potatoes until a smooth, elastic mass is obtained. To prevent the dough from darkening while you cook the minced meat, add a little citric acid to it.

Step 2

Prepare the filling. To do this, add fried onions, salt, pepper and other spices to taste into the minced meat.

Step 3

Make fairly large tortillas from the potato dough, put some minced meat in the middle of each of them. Gently close the edges, give the zeppelins a corresponding oblong shape. To ease the sculpting process, wet your hands with water more often.

Step 4

Now the zeppelins need to be welded. Dip them in boiling water one at a time. Do not forget to stir them, so as not to stick together. It is necessary to cook zeppelins for 30 minutes. When they rise to the surface and then sink to the bottom again, you can take them out. You can then fry the zeppelins in a skillet until golden, crisp.

Step 5

Make a sauce that will add flavor and aroma to your dish. Fry lard and onion cut into small cubes. You can add some brisket. When the onion is light golden add the sour cream and stir well. Pour this sauce over the zeppelins. You can decorate with chopped herbs. The dish is ready.
