Stewed fresh or sauerkraut is more often prepared as a side dish. Fried cabbage can be not only a side dish, but also a completely self-sufficient hot dish - tasty and budgetary.

Step 2

Rinse the head of cabbage with cold water. The top green leaves must be removed - they will not be used. It is also better not to use damaged cabbage leaves for cooking. Separate a few leaves from the cole, cut off the hard cobs.

Melt the butter in a deep skillet over medium heat. To prevent the oil from sizzling and splattering, you can add a little refined, deodorized vegetable oil (olive, corn, or sunflower).

Chop the cabbage into strips about 4-5 mm thick. Cut the tomatoes into small cubes. It is advisable to first remove the skin from them. To do this, place the tomatoes in boiling water for a couple of minutes, cool and carefully remove the skin.

Step 5

Saute the cabbage over medium heat until translucent (keeping it slightly crispy). Add the tomatoes and finely chopped garlic, cover and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Season with salt, lightly sprinkle with ground black pepper and paprika. Garnish the finished dish with finely chopped dill and parsley. Season with sour cream if desired.

To make the dish more satisfying and appetizing, fry the cabbage along with pieces of sausage or sausage. When brown, add tomatoes, spices and herbs. In this case, you should not season with sour cream, but you can focus on tomatoes and season with a couple of drops of hot tomato sauce.

In autumn, cabbage can be fried with onions and wild mushrooms. It is advisable to boil the mushrooms beforehand.
