Halva made from cornmeal is a dessert related to oriental cuisine. It differs from many desserts in its ease of preparation and availability of ingredients. In the Caucasus, corn halva is considered one of the main dishes of the festive table.
It is necessary
saucepan, spoon, sieve, boiling water, sugar, corn flour, butter
Instructions
Step 1
Sift 2 cups of cornmeal through a sieve. Heat a saucepan and heat 100 grams of butter in it. Sprinkle flour into it and fry, stirring constantly with a spoon.
Step 2
Mix 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup boiling water in a small bowl.
Step 3
Add to the flour fried in butter and stir, adding a little more boiling water. Cook until the resulting mass thickens. When halva, while stirring, stops sticking to the pan, we can assume that the dish is ready.
Step 4
Transfer the dish to a plate until it cools. Shape and sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or grated nuts. Halva can be served both hot and cold.
