For many centuries in European countries, for the holidays (especially at Christmas), gingerbread has been baked for kids. However, in some regions of Russia, gingerbread figurines with honey or spices - goats - have long been made. In both cases, children participate in the process of preparing delicacies, and baking turns into a fun game.

It is necessary

    • sour cream - 1 glass;
    • kefir - 2 glasses;
    • margarine - 250 g;
    • granulated sugar - 3.5 cups;
    • salt - 1/3 tsp;
    • soda - 1 tsp;
    • flour - 4-5 glasses;
    • cold water - 5 tablespoons;
    • three eggs;
    • a pinch of ground ginger and other spices;
    • culinary toppings;
    • nuts
    • dried fruits
    • candied fruit
    • cocoa powder
    • honey - to taste;
    • pan;
    • cling film;
    • mixer or whisk;
    • carving knife
    • molds or notches;
    • wooden sticks.

Instructions

Step 1

Melt the margarine by cutting into small slices in a saucepan over low heat.

Step 2

Divide the eggs into whites and yolks. When the margarine has cooled slightly, add the yolks, sour cream, kefir and granulated sugar. Mix everything carefully.

Step 3

Forgive the flour for a fluffier baked item. Add salt, baking soda and ginger to the flour. Knead the dough. It shouldn't stick to your hands.

Step 4

Roll out the dough into a cake 5-7 mm thick. You can wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in a cool place for several hours (or you can cook it right away).

Step 5

Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut the gingerbread cookies, or use your own hands to sculpt them. Or you can make gingerbread on sticks. To do this, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a layer about 0.8 cm thick, cut out the circles with a special notch or glass, carefully put them on sticks and shape the gingerbread cookies by cutting off the excess.

Step 6

Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Place the gingerbread cookies on a baking sheet in the oven for about 15 minutes - until golden brown.

Step 7

While the gingerbread cookies are cooling on a flat surface, prepare the icing. To do this, beat the whites with sugar (using a mixer at low speed or by hand with a whisk). When everything is evenly mixed, add cold water (mineral water can be used) and whisk again. Then put the mixture in a water bath and cook, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes.

Step 8

Cover the gingerbread with icing and let them dry. To speed up the drying time, you can put the baked goods in the oven at a low temperature.
