Chicken meat is tender, tasty and, importantly, very healthy. If you are in doubt about your own culinary abilities and do not know how to cook chicken in such a way as to enjoy both cooking and tasting, simply stew it with dumplings.
It is necessary

- chicken breasts - 6 pcs.;
- flour - 3 tbsp. l.;
- olive oil - 3 tbsp l.;
- onion - 1 pc.;
- smoked bacon - 200 g;
- garlic - 3 cloves;
- champignons - 100 g;
- Bay leaf;
- red currant sauce - 2 tbsp. l.;
- orange peel - 3 strips;
- red wine - 300 ml;
- chicken broth - 300 ml;
- pepper;
- salt.
- For making dumplings:
- flour - 100 g;
- fresh white bread crumbs - 100 g;
- mustard - 1 tbsp. l.;
- butter - 150 g;
- fresh thyme leaves - 2 tsp;
- eggs - 2 pcs.;
- parsley.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the chicken breasts thoroughly in cold water, pat dry with a clean towel, rub with a mixture of salt and pepper and lightly coat in flour.
Step 2
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan with a lid. Fry the chicken pieces on both sides over high heat and transfer to a separate cup.
Step 3
Peel the onion and garlic, cut the onion into small slices, the garlic into thin slices. Wash the mushrooms, dry and cut thinly. Cut the bacon into small cubes. Put the onion and bacon in the saucepan where the chicken was fried, reduce heat and fry for 6-8 minutes. Then add the garlic and flour. Stir and fry for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid scorching.
Step 4
Add mushrooms, bay leaf and orange zest, then pour in wine and broth, season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then place the chicken back in the pot. It should be completely covered with liquid. Cover with a lid and place in an oven preheated to 200-220 degrees. Simmer for 30-40 minutes.
Step 5
While the meat is cooking, cook the dumplings. To do this, place the flour, bread crumbs, mustard, and diced butter in a food processor and blend until they become crumbs. Add thyme, parsley, lightly beaten eggs, salt and pepper. Mix quickly until a sufficiently sticky dough is obtained.
Step 6
With your hands sprinkled with flour, sculpt 6 large balls of approximately the same size.
Step 7
After 30-40 minutes, remove the pot of chicken from the oven and place the dumplings on top of it. Cover and place in oven for another 20-30 minutes. After that, take out the pan with meat and leave to stand under the lid for about 15-20 minutes.
Step 8
Spoon the chicken and sauce onto the plates, place one dumpling at a time and serve. This dish will go well with boiled potatoes and fresh vegetables.
