Buritos is considered the national Mexican dish. However, it turns out that it was invented quite recently, a little over 100 years ago. The exact date (1910) and the author of the dish (Juan Mendes) are even known.
It is necessary
- - 1 tablespoon of olive oil;
- - 0.5 kg of minced beef;
- - 1 head of onion;
- - 1 clove of garlic;
- - 1 teaspoon of cumin;
- - 1 chili pepper;
- - 400 g of tomatoes;
- - 1 can of canned red beans;
- - 4 unleavened cakes;
- - 1 teaspoon of paprika;
- - 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- - 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro;
- - 1 tablespoon of grated cheese.
Instructions
Step 1
Fry the minced meat in vegetable oil until it becomes crumbly. Finely chop the onion, pass the garlic clove through a press. Add them to the minced meat and sauté until the onions are translucent. Season the minced meat with spices (crushed chili and cumin). Season with salt to taste.
Step 2
Cut the tomatoes into wedges and add them to the meat. Throw the canned beans in a colander and stir into the tomato-meat mass. Pour half a glass of water into the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and extinguish for about 15 minutes. In this case, you do not need to cover the dishes with a lid. The mass should thicken, and all excess moisture should evaporate.
Step 3
Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Spread on unleavened cakes with mayonnaise. Divide the meat filling into 4 parts and place on each tortilla. Fold over 2 opposite edges of the cake. Place them on top of each other and fasten them with a toothpick.
Step 4
Grease a baking sheet with oil. Place the burritos on top of it, sprinkle with paprika. Bake for about 10 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the burritos from the oven, remove the skewers. Chop the cilantro and finely grate the cheese. Sprinkle the burritos with some grated cheese and cilantro. Serve warm.
