Pistachios are widely used in various national cuisines. These light green nuts perfectly complement both main courses (meat, vegetables) and desserts (muffins, cakes, cookies). However, pistachios are no less tasty on their own - as a snack, for example, with beer or other drinks. You can cook salted nuts yourself.
It is necessary
-
- pistachios;
- salt;
- a saucepan or other container;
- frying pan or baking sheet.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare oversaturated salt solution for salting pistachios. To do this, take a container of a suitable size (for example, an enamel saucepan), fill it with water and pour in ordinary table salt, or iodized salt. Stir until the crystals are able to dissolve. Dip pistachios into the resulting solution. Soak the nuts in the brine at room temperature for at least two hours to soak them properly.
Step 2
After the pistachios are salted in the saucepan, remove and dry. Place the nuts on a paper or plain linen towel and drain. Fry the dried pistachios in a skillet or heat on a baking sheet in the oven. Actually, this nut is also suitable for consumption in its raw form, it is fried only to enhance the aroma.
Step 3
Pistachios are incomparably tastier when roasted on a real fire. If there is an opportunity to go out of town or to the country, take pre-salted nuts with you. In a camping pot or in a grill pan, pistachios will be even more fragrant, saturated with smoke. Pistachios combined with cheese and other foods are ideal for a picnic.
Step 4
The resulting product can be used as an independent snack for beer, white or red wine, as well as with strong drinks (cognac and others). Pistachios are no less tasty as part of meat dishes, finely chopped nuts are added to vegetable salads. Traditionally, pistachios are served salty, but there are many sweet recipes that also contain this nut.
