Kutia is a very rich and satisfying dish with symbolic meaning. The word "kutí" in translation from Greek means boiled wheat.

For some reason, this dish for some is associated with the Nativity of Christ. For some, it symbolizes the following:

  • eternal resurrected life - grain or grain;
  • health, peace and well-being - honey;
  • prosperity and wealth - poppy.

Cooking kutya is not as difficult as it seems. You just need to spend a little time, and also tune in to "the right way." After all, you need to cook this dish only with good thoughts, with love and kindness. But even after cooking, it is advisable to stay in the same mood.

The hope that the richer the kutia - the more wealth awaits you next year - is in vain. We do not advise you to check this omen (because, most likely, you will be disappointed at best).

Ingredients:

Wheat - 1 cup (peel before cooking). Poppy - ½ cup. Walnuts - ½ cup (can be replaced with any others that are more to your taste. But for the preparation of classic kutya, walnuts are needed). Honey - ½ cup (preferably liquid). Raisins - 1 glass

The composition is wonderful - everything is only what is useful for our body.

Cooking time - 2 hours.

Peel the wheat, rinse thoroughly - until the water becomes clear, soak: pour water in proportions 1: 2 (for example, for 1 glass of wheat - 2 glasses of water). Let stand overnight before cooking. If you need to receive the finished dish today, wait at least 2 hours.

Pour the settled wheat with fresh water, salt, cook until porridge is obtained, stirring occasionally, for about an hour. Be careful not to burn the porridge! To do this, it is better to either take a cast iron dish - for cooking on the stove, or place the pan in the oven. The cooked porridge should be fairly liquid.

While cooking porridge, rinse the raisins and poppy seeds, pour hot boiled water, preferably boiling water.

Chop the peeled nuts - not very finely, fry in a pan without oil. Drain the water from the raisins and poppies.

Grind poppy seeds: you can in a blender, if not - in a mortar. The poppy is ready when the milk appears. Check honey. If it is thick - heat, melt to a liquid state in a water bath.

Mix all the ingredients obtained thoroughly. If you like very sweet things, add sugar or honey to the kutya. If the kutia turned out to be very cool, “season” the kutia with warm boiled milk or water. If, on the contrary, it is very liquid, do not worry, it will thicken.
