Preparation of food

To make Turkish lentil soup you will need: 1 potato, 1 carrot, 120 g of red lentils, 150 ml of tomato juice, 2 tbsp. l. olive oil, 1 onion, 10 g butter, 1 tbsp. l. lemon juice, 2 cloves of garlic.

Preparation

Rinse all vegetables under cold running water. Grate carrots on a fine grater or cut into strips, finely chop onions and garlic. Cut the potatoes into small cubes.

Take a medium-sized cauldron, pour vegetable oil into it, and then add butter. Fry chopped onion and garlic in a cauldron until transparent. Next, put the potatoes in a cauldron and cook the ingredients for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Add carrots and cook vegetables over low heat for 5 minutes.

Take lentils and rinse them under cold water. Put the grains in a cauldron with vegetables, fill the ingredients with water. Cook for 15-20 minutes, during which time the potatoes and lentils will begin to boil.

Pour tomato juice into the soup, boil for another 5 minutes, then add the required amount of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the soup, salt to taste. Cover the cauldron with a lid, turn off the heat and let the soup steep for 7-8 minutes.

Turkish lentil soup is ready! Serve the first course with lemon wedge, croutons and mint sprigs.
