Ham with black currant sauce is a delicious and sophisticated dish. The combination of sweet and sour blackcurrant sauce and salted ham makes this dish special.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg of lightly salted boneless ham;
  • 300 g of water;
  • 300 g of diluted blackcurrant juice;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 ginger root;
  • 1 sprig of cinnamon;
  • sprigs of parsley.

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons flour;
  • 100 g of water;
  • salt;
  • freshly ground black pepper.

Preparation:

  1. You need to start cooking this dish by preparing the ham. To do this, put the ham in a saucepan with the lid tightly closed. Make sure a thermometer (which you will need later) does not interfere with closing the lid. Remove the ham from the pan.
  2. After that, you need to pour water and blackcurrant juice into a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil. Add garlic, ginger, cinnamon and parsley.
  3. Then insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the ham.
  4. Then put the ham in a boiling liquid and cook, tightly covered with a lid. Turn the ham once. Remove the pot from the heat when the thermometer reads about 70 degrees: this will take about an hour.
  5. Leave the ham in the broth for 20 minutes if served hot. You can also refrigerate the ham completely.
  6. After that, you need to prepare the sauce. To make a delicious sauce, strain the broth into a saucepan. Mix the sifted flour and 100 g of cold water. Add the broth left over from boiling the ham. Bring to a boil, season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the ham with blackcurrant sauce along with fresh vegetables: carrots, peas, boiled potatoes or pickled cucumbers.
