Ham with black currant sauce is a delicious and sophisticated dish. The combination of sweet and sour blackcurrant sauce and salted ham makes this dish special.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 kg of lightly salted boneless ham;
- 300 g of water;
- 300 g of diluted blackcurrant juice;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- 1 ginger root;
- 1 sprig of cinnamon;
- sprigs of parsley.
Sauce Ingredients:
- 4 teaspoons flour;
- 100 g of water;
- salt;
- freshly ground black pepper.
Preparation:
- You need to start cooking this dish by preparing the ham. To do this, put the ham in a saucepan with the lid tightly closed. Make sure a thermometer (which you will need later) does not interfere with closing the lid. Remove the ham from the pan.
- After that, you need to pour water and blackcurrant juice into a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil. Add garlic, ginger, cinnamon and parsley.
- Then insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the ham.
- Then put the ham in a boiling liquid and cook, tightly covered with a lid. Turn the ham once. Remove the pot from the heat when the thermometer reads about 70 degrees: this will take about an hour.
- Leave the ham in the broth for 20 minutes if served hot. You can also refrigerate the ham completely.
- After that, you need to prepare the sauce. To make a delicious sauce, strain the broth into a saucepan. Mix the sifted flour and 100 g of cold water. Add the broth left over from boiling the ham. Bring to a boil, season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the ham with blackcurrant sauce along with fresh vegetables: carrots, peas, boiled potatoes or pickled cucumbers.
