Chicken chakhokhbili turns out to be incredibly tasty and aromatic. This dish of Georgian cuisine is very, very simple to prepare. In the original recipe, wild pheasant was used for cooking, however, it turns out very well with chicken too.

Ingredients:

  • 1, 2 kg of chicken legs;
  • 2 large onion heads;
  • a bunch of fresh cilantro and basil;
  • 3 garlic cloves;
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 ripe medium sized tomatoes;
  • 1 hot red pepper;
  • 1 small spoon of hops-suneli.

Preparation:

  1. The chicken should be washed very thoroughly using running water. Then the legs must be divided with a sharp knife into pieces of approximately the same size.
  2. Put the frying pan on a hot stove and add a small amount of butter to it. After it is hot, chicken meat is laid out. It should be fried over medium heat until a beautiful golden brown crust is formed on each side.
  3. Tomatoes should be thoroughly rinsed, and then rinsed with freshly boiled water. After that, you need to remove the skin from the tomatoes (which will be removed quite easily). After that, the vegetables are cut into not very large cubes. Then the chopped tomatoes must be poured into the pan, where the chicken legs are cooked. Fry for a quarter of an hour.
  4. The husks must be removed from the bulbs, after which they are thoroughly washed in cold water. With a sharp knife, the onion should be cut into not very thick half rings.
  5. On a preheated stove, you need to put another frying pan and add a little butter to it. After the oil is heated, the prepared onion is poured into it. It should be sautéed with regular stirring over medium heat until golden brown.
  6. After the onion is ready, pour it into the chicken pan. Cover it with a lid and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. After that, you need to salt the chakhokhbili, add hot pepper and your favorite spices.
  7. Then, pre-washed, dried and finely chopped fresh herbs are poured into the pan. After all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, they still need to cook for about 8 minutes.
  8. As a side dish for a ready-made, incredibly appetizing and aromatic dish, mashed potatoes or boiled rice are suitable.
