  • - mineral water - 100 ml;
  • - flour - 300 g;
  • - baking powder for dough - 1/4 tsp;
  • - lemon peel - to taste.

Instructions

Step 1

Pour sugar into a dry bowl, pour in sunflower oil and grind the sand with a wooden crush until the mass becomes almost homogeneous.

Pour flour into a separate bowl, add baking powder and mix. Fill the mixture with mineral water and knead until the lumps disappear. Add a mixture of butter and crushed sugar to a bowl, mix until smooth.

We put the dough on the table and roll it out with a rolling pin into a layer 0.5-0.7 cm thick. You don't need to sprinkle the table surface with flour, it doesn't stick anyway. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into rectangles 2.5-3 cm wide. In the center of each rectangle we make an incision, not reaching the edges by 1.5 cm. Take one edge of the rectangle and stretch it 1-2 times in the cut, we get a pigtail. You can also shape the brushwood into a flower or herringbone shape. We repeat the procedure with each rectangle.

Step 4

Pour the vegetable oil into a deep frying pan and bring it to a boil. We spread brushwood in it and fry over medium heat until golden brown. Put the finished cookies on a paper towel to get rid of excess oil. Then we transfer the brushwood to a flat dish and, if desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
