Bananas fried in batter is an original and quick dessert. The dish turns out to be quite high-calorie, but very satisfying. These bananas can be served with fruit sauce, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream for an even more delicious dessert.
Bananas in caramel
Try Chinese-style bananas. Fruits in batter are first deep-fried and then dipped in caramel. Dessert is served hot, which means that it must be prepared immediately before a meal.
You will need:
- 6 small bananas;
- 100 g of wheat flour;
- 15 g of starch;
- 3 egg whites;
- 150 g of milk;
- 300 g of sugar;
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds;
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice;
- 150 ml of water;
- vegetable oil for frying.
Bananas for dessert should be ripe, but not too soft - this way they will keep their shape better.
Peel the bananas and cut into thick circles. Sprinkle them with lemon juice. Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep skillet.
Prepare the batter. In a bowl, combine the sifted flour and starch. Make a depression in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the egg whites, lightly beaten with milk. Stir the dough and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Place the banana slices on a fork and dip into the dough so that it completely covers the fruit. Fry them in boiling oil until golden brown - it will take no more than a minute. Place cooked bananas on a preheated dish and keep warm.
Dissolve sugar in water and bring mixture to a boil. Boil the syrup until golden brown. Pour the sesame seeds into the caramel and stir. Dip the bananas in caramel and place in bowls greased with butter. Serve immediately with a container filled with cold water. Dip bananas in batter in water before eating to harden the caramel.
You can use this recipe to make other fruits like apples, pears, peaches, pineapples, or kiwi.
Bananas in coconut batter
Try another version of batter bananas. They are served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or condensed milk.
You will need:
- 4 bananas;
- 80 ml of water;
- 2 tablespoons of coconut flakes;
- 150 g wheat flour;
- 3 eggs;
- vegetable oil for frying.
Sift the flour into a bowl, add cold water, and then beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir the batter thoroughly so that no lumps remain in it. Stir in the coconut and stir the dough again. Heat oil in a deep skillet.
Cut the bananas in half, and then divide each half in half. Dip the banana slices in batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown. Place the fruit on a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess fat.
Serve the bananas hot in serving bowls. Dessert can be garnished with fresh berries and complemented with ice cream or condensed milk.
