Portuguese cod patties are not at all like what we imagine. They differ in that, like donuts, they are cooked in a large amount of oil. You will not regret the time wasted if you make this dish.
It is necessary
- - cod - 400 g;
- - onion - 1 pc.;
- - potatoes - 250 g;
- - egg - 4 pcs.;
- - parsley - 1 bunch;
- - nutmeg;
- - pepper;
- - salt.
Instructions
Step 1
After rinsing the potatoes under running water, peel them, then place them in a pot of water and cook until they are completely cooked. Put the fish, like this vegetable, to boil too.
Step 2
Remove the finished fish from the water, let it cool down a little, and then separate its flesh from everything unnecessary, that is, from the skin and bones. Place the cod meat in a blender bowl and grind it until it turns into a smooth, smooth consistency - puree.
Step 3
Chop boiled potatoes, like fish, until puree. There should not be a single lump in it.
Step 4
Chop the onions finely, having previously peeled them off. Also chop a thoroughly washed bunch of parsley. Put these ingredients in one deep bowl. Put mashed potatoes and cod puree there. Add raw chicken eggs, salt, nutmeg and pepper to the resulting mass. Adjust the amount of these seasonings to your liking. Mix everything properly.
Step 5
Form balls from the resulting homogeneous mass. This procedure is most convenient to do if you wet your palms with water in advance.
Step 6
After pouring a large amount of vegetable oil into a saucepan, heat it up. Dip rolled balls into hot oil. Fry them until the crust turns golden brown.
Step 7
Blot the finished balls with a paper towel. If this is not done, then excess fat will remain on them. Portuguese cod patties are ready!
