Salted herring, boiled potatoes, green onions, fragrant butter and fresh black bread - here it is, a glorious lunch or dinner that has many fans. Salting herring at home is very simple, and a ready-made appetizer can be used as a main dish, or used to make forshmaks, sandwiches and salads.
It is necessary
- - 2 large herrings;
- - 1 liter of water;
- - 3-4 bay leaves;
- - 5-8 pcs. allspice peas;
- - 8-10 pcs. black peppercorns;
- - 5-7 pcs. carnations;
- - 2 tbsp. salt with a slide;
- - 1 tbsp. sugar with a slide.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the brine, for this, boil the water and add all the prepared seasonings, salt and sugar to it. Bring the mixture to a boil and leave to cool completely.
Step 2
Cut off the head of the herring and clean it from the entrails, then rinse the cut fish under running water.
Step 3
If the herring contains milk or caviar, then they must be carefully removed and washed. And in the future, these parts can be salted along with the fish, but only they will be ready much faster, somewhere in a day they can be eaten.
Step 4
Put the chopped herring into a container, fill it with spicy brine. Soak at room temperature for a couple of hours, and then put the container with fish in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
Step 5
With this method of salting, the herring turns out to be medium-salted. And according to the same recipe, you can also salt other fish, such as capelin or mackerel.
