This versatile dish is especially popular in China as it is delicious and easy to prepare. Chow mein can be made with any number of ingredients at your disposal, as long as there are noodles among them. To make chow mein even faster, ditch the chicken and marinade and use whatever vegetables you have in the house.
It is necessary
- - 350 g chicken breast fillet;
- - 250 g chow mein noodles;
- - 2 stalks of celery;
- - 200 g of mushrooms;
- - 2 carrots;
- - 100 g of peas in pods;
- - 1 bunch of green onions;
- - 100 g of peeled boiled shrimp;
- - 100 g of lean beef;
- - 5 tbsp. spoons of soy sauce;
- - 1 teaspoon of chili sauce;
- - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of sesame oil;
- - 1 teaspoon of cornstarch;
- - 4 tbsp. tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut mushrooms, carrots, onions into small bowls. Cut the beef into cubes, halve the peas and cut the celery stalks diagonally. Cut the chicken breast into thin slices.
Step 2
In a bowl, stir well the soy and chili sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Add the chicken and stir again, tossing the chicken well in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Cook the noodles in boiling water following the instructions on the package. Drain the noodles and set aside.
Step 4
Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet until almost smoking. Quickly, literally for a minute, fry the celery and mushrooms in oil. Add carrots, peas and green onions and cook for another 2 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to a plate, keeping them warm.
Step 5
Heat the remaining oil in a wok (almost to smoke). Add chicken and marinade and cook for 2 minutes. Add shrimp, beef, vegetables and noodles and cook for 2 more minutes.
