It is necessary

  • - fresh cranberries;
  • - refrigerator;
  • - zip packages;
  • - paper towels;
  • - baking paper;
  • - oven;
  • - baking sheets.

Instructions

Step 1

Only fresh ripe cranberries are suitable for storage. Such berries are glossy, firm to the touch, plump. Ripe cranberries range in color from pale scarlet to deep purple. Withered, burst, berries with brown spots should be selected and discarded. Before any storage, the cranberries need to be sorted out - remove debris, dirt, needles, pinch off the tails, rinse under running water and dry on a clean towel.

Step 2

Chilled cranberries Place clean, dry cranberries in sealed plastic containers, cover and store in the refrigerator at a temperature of +1 to + 5 ° C. In this form, the berry can last for about a month.

Step 3

Frozen Cranberries Arrange the wax paper on small baking trays. Sprinkle cranberries on top of it in one layer and place in the freezer for up to 12 hours. Remove the sheets from the refrigerator, pour the cranberries into either zip bags or special containers. Don't forget to date them. Return the frozen cranberries to the freezer. In this form, the berry can be stored for up to one year.

Step 4

Dried Cranberries Fill a large wide saucepan about halfway with water and bring to a boil. Submerge the cranberries in boiling water. Wait for the berries to burst. This procedure will allow, firstly, to preserve the beautiful rich color of the cranberries, and secondly, if the peel does not burst, then the drying process can take an indefinitely long time. Throw the berries in a colander, put them on a clean dry towel and dry with a paper towel. Before doing this, you can dip the cranberries in sugar or corn syrup if you want sweeter berries that can be added to muesli, crunches and "quick" cereals. Place several layers of paper towels and one layer of baking paper on a baking sheet, and sprinkle berries on the prepared baking sheet. Preheat oven to 95 ° C and place a baking sheet with cranberries in it. Reduce temperature to 65 ° C. Cranberries can dry for up to 8 hours, so wait a long time. Turn off the oven and remove the berries when they are softer or crunchier to your liking. Store dried berries in sealed plastic containers or glass containers. Dried cranberries can be stored for up to 5 years.
