Autumn is the season for harvesting apples. They are used to prepare juices, compotes, preserves, and jam. Apples are dried, soaked and frozen, and also eaten fresh. Making apple confectionery, such as pies, muffins, and rolls, is a great way to eat them.
Roll "Apple Cylinder" is made from shortcrust pastry, which is immediately coated with filling and baked.
To prepare the roll, you will need the following ingredients:
- flour 300 g;
- eggs 2 pcs.;
- milk 125 ml;
- sugar 200 g;
- butter 50 g;
- apples 5 pcs. (100 g each);
- icing sugar for dusting.
Butter must be ground with some of the sugar, for this it must have a soft consistency. To prepare the dough according to the specified layout, use only 150 grams of sugar. Beat the eggs with the remaining sugar until a light foam forms and add to the pre-prepared butter. Mix everything gently. Rinse the flour 2 times and then add it to the dough. It should be added gradually, and when the dough becomes very thick, you can start adding water.
Ready-made shortbread dough is very flexible and plastic, does not stick to hands, it can be rolled out on the table. The shortcrust pastry is rolled out on the table using a small amount of flour, otherwise it will be prolonged. This process should also take a little time, otherwise the dough will be sticky and brittle.
Apples need to be washed, cored and grated. Mix them with some of the sugar.
Roll out the dough into an even layer about 1 cm thick, put the prepared apple filling on it and roll it into a roll. Place it on a greased baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. The finished roll can be sprinkled with powdered sugar.
