Lemon can be found in homes in many countries. It is used in the preparation of any food, including sweets. Drinks, preserves, jams are made from it. It is added to tea. They are treated for colds and flu. But during its existence, it has acquired a large number of varieties.
Lemon is an evergreen plant 5-8 m high. The plant has both leaves and flowers and fruits. The latter received the same name. It is usually yellow in color and has a sour taste. The pulp is made up of hairs filled with juice.
Indoor lemons
Indoor lemons are the most studied and well-known citrus fruits. They are easy to grow. One of them is Lemon Pavlovsky. It has a height of 1-1.5 m. Fruits are oval, yellow in color and usually weigh 200 g. From one plant can be removed from 7 to 15 fruits annually. The flowering of seedlings begins in the third year of the planting field.
One of the most unpretentious varieties is Lunario Lemon. Its other name is four-season. Its fruits are 70-50 g less in weight and taste less bright than the previous sample. However, the fruits can be removed from it from 8 to 16, and flowering begins in the second year.
The fruits of Lemon Ponderosa are much larger than that of other representatives - 300-900 g. But their number is several times less and ranges from 3 to 5, and flowering occurs after 1-2 years. The plant height is relatively low. The largest representative barely reaches 1 m.
Limon Villa Franca has an average length of 1.3 m. This variety has many large leaves. Moreover, it has few thorns. Sometimes they may not be there. The oblong-oval fruits, the surface of which is smooth, usually weigh 100 g. But this plant needs the sun, so it is worth growing it in a bright room.
Citron Buddha's Hand stands out among other plants in that its fruits are more like yellow carrots. They spice up in small heaps. Their weight is on average 200 g, like many other varieties, seedlings begin to bloom for 3 years. The fruits are mainly made from candied fruits.
Genoa is considered one of the most fertile varieties. For 4-5 years, the harvest can be 50 pieces. Like Villa Franca's Lemons, they need good lighting. Another plant was bred from this plant - Lemon Kiev. Like its progenitor, it is distinguished by a large number of fruits, but it adapts quite well to shady rooms.
Wild lemon
Wild lemon is a shrub or small tree that is 3-6 meters high. All branches are accompanied by thorns 1 cm long. Fruits are round or ovoid. The rind is speckled with many warty formations. The taste is not much different from indoor counterparts.
The possible homeland of the wild lemon is India. It grows mainly in tropical and subtropical areas such as South Asia and Latin America. It is usually used for the rootstock of other citrus plants.
