Kissel is an aromatic and tasty drink made from fruit or berry juice and starch. There are several ways to prepare it at home. You can buy ready-made powder and cook jelly, according to the instructions on the package. But preparing a drink from fresh berries, such as cranberries, will be tastier and healthier. This jelly is rich in vitamin C and is very useful.

It is necessary

  • - 50 g fresh cranberries;
  • - 2 tsp starch;
  • - 3 tbsp. Sahara;
  • - 250 g of water.

Instructions

Step 1

Sort out the cranberries. To do this, remove all debris: twigs, leaves, rotten berries, insects, blades of grass, and so on. Then rinse well under cold running water by placing the cranberries in a strainer or colander. Wait for the water to drain and pour the cranberries into a bowl. Crush the berries with a fork or spoon, drain the released juice into another container. Transfer the cranberry pulp to a saucepan, cover with hot water and cook for 5 minutes after boiling.

Step 2

Remove the pan from heat, cool the contents slightly and strain through a sieve. Combine cranberry broth and clean juice squeezed out before, add sugar and put on fire. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Step 3

Dissolve the starch in a little water, and then pour it into the hot juice in a thin stream, while stirring constantly so that no lumps form. Place the pot back on the stove and bring the contents to a boil. Kissel is ready.

Step 4

You can do it differently. First squeeze out the juice and refrigerate. Pour cranberry pomace with water and boil, then strain, add sugar and put on fire again. Dissolve the starch with a little water and pour in a thin stream into the boiled cranberry broth. Remember to stir while doing this to avoid clumping. Remove the jelly from the stove and cool slightly. Finally, pour in the cranberry juice and stir. This version of the preparation of jelly maximally preserves vitamin C, which is so rich in cranberries.

Step 5

Kissel can be served warm or completely cooled. In the latter case, you can decorate its surface with whipped cream and strawberries or raspberries.
