Meatballs are special in Sweden! They are loved not only by adults, but also by children. There are many recipes for making meatballs and serving methods, each housewife has her own secrets. Traditional recipes involve 3 essential ingredients: meat, bread crumbs and boiled potatoes. Our meatballs became famous first thanks to the adventures of Carlson, and then the already famous concern "Ikea" introduced us to the taste of small meatballs and an unusual, but obligatory sweet lingonberry sauce.

It is necessary

  • Foods for 4 servings (about 30-40 pcs.):
  • • Beef (or in equal shares, 250-300 grams of beef and pork)
  • • Stale loaf or 50-100 grams of bread crumbs (unsweetened)
  • • Cream (milk) 200-250 grams
  • • Onions 1-2 pieces
  • • Egg - 1 pc.
  • • Boiled potatoes - 2 pieces
  • • Butter or vegetable oil (for frying)
  • • Flour - 2 tablespoons (for rolling)
  • • Salt
  • • Allspice or white ground pepper
  • • Garlic

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare minced meat from prepared meat by rotating it twice through a meat grinder. Peel the boiled potatoes and mash. Soak the loaf in milk or cream. If using bread crumbs, simply fill them with the liquid of your choice (milk or cream). Peel the onions and garlic.

Step 2

Cut onions into small cubes. In Swedish meatballs, fried onions are more often used than raw ones, so after melting the butter in a pan, the onions are fried until golden brown. Combine all the ingredients together: rolled minced meat, squeezed bread, fried and slightly cooled onions and thoroughly sweep out. Add salt, spices and garlic (optional).

Step 3

Using two teaspoons, form small round meatballs. Put the flour in a shallow bowl and roll in the balls, then fry until a small crust in melted and heated oil. Meatballs are served with a creamy sauce with meat broth and a sweet lingonberry sauce.
