It is necessary

  • - a cup or glass container;
  • - pan.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a glass container and pour the right amount of oil into it. A glass cup or jar up to half a liter will do. Pour in enough oil to fill no more than half of the container. If you need a very small amount, which will be enough for only one use, you can use a regular 250 ml glass for the water bath, half filling it.

Step 2

Place a container of oil in a saucepan. Then pour water into the pot so that its level is slightly above the oil level (at least 3-5 cm). In doing so, keep in mind that the larger the container with oil, the higher the water level should be in relation to the oil level. You do not need to cover the pot with a lid.

Step 3

Put a saucepan on fire and bring water to a boil, then reduce heat slightly. The time during which the sunflower oil will be heated in a water bath depends on the amount of oil. For example, if you use a container with a volume of about 500 ml, half filled with oil, it should be boiled for about 25-30 minutes. If you took a small jar or an ordinary mug with a volume of 250 ml, then keep the oil on fire after the water boils for no more than 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

While boiling, stir the butter with a wooden spoon. Please note: sunflower oil will not boil, as it has a consistency that is too thick for this. Heating in a water bath in itself makes the oil sterile and does not require boiling. However, if you boil the oil for too long, it may heat up too much and ignite. Therefore, keep a close eye on the time: you should keep sunflower oil in a water bath no more than 20-30 minutes from the moment the water boils.

Step 5

Cool the boiled oil a little without removing it from the pan, then cover the pan with a lid and leave to cool completely. The oil usually cools almost completely within 30-40 minutes. After this time, pour the oil into a container from which it will be convenient to pour it. If you plan to use boiled sunflower oil several times, take a pre-sterilized jar with a tight-fitting lid for storage. But it should be noted that sterilized sunflower oil should not be stored longer than a day. It is better to use it immediately, and boil new portions of oil as needed.
