It is necessary

    • sheet gelatin;
    • gauze.

Instructions

Step 1

Food grade gelatin is sold in stores in the form of flakes, grains, powder, or granules. Make sure to check the expiration date before buying it. An expired product can easily spoil any culinary masterpiece. The good quality of gelatin can also be told by its appearance - smell and color. A spoiled thickener usually has a slight glue odor and a yellowish tint.

Step 2

Usually any gelatin is prepared the same way. Soak the amount you need (according to the recipe) in cold water at the rate of 1 teaspoon of gelatin to 8 of the same spoons of water. After it swells, add warm water, put on a small fire and, stirring carefully, dissolve. Add the resulting liquid to the prepared dish.

Step 3

A slight difference in the cooking procedure is the gelatin made in the form of plates. Soak several of these sheets in cold water for 10 minutes, placing them there in turn.

Step 4

After this time, squeeze out excess water from them. To do this, put the plates in cheesecloth and lightly squeeze it with your hands. After that, fold the gelatin into a saucepan and leave it in a water bath until the gelatin sheet is completely melted. Then remove it from heat and add other ingredients as per your recipe. Please note that you do not need to add water to the squeezed gelatin.

Step 5

Use dissolved gelatin to make jelly, cake cream, jellies, or aspic. The main thing is to maintain the required proportion.

Step 6

A food thickener is also used in cosmetology. Thanks to its protein content, it is good for hair, joints and nails. It is often used to make face masks and nail baths. Add a little dissolved gelatin to warm water, put your hands in there and hold for 10-15 minutes. With regular performance of this procedure, the nails become noticeably stronger.
