Grape juice is used in the production of wine, vinegar, and in the cosmetic industry. In addition, it is just a delicious and healthy drink. Depending on the purpose for which you squeeze the grapes, this process occurs in a different scenario.
It is necessary
-
- grapes;
- a bowl or basin;
- blender or juicer;
- gauze or sieve;
- colander.
Instructions
Step 1
The production of juice from grapes is a simple but costly process. To get 1 liter of liquid, you will have to squeeze 5 to 6 kilograms of berries.
Step 2
To get grape juice, you can use any grape you buy at the market or store. Prepare the berries by separating them from the bunch and placing them in a colander. Rinse with warm boiled water. If you plan on making a lot of juice, wash the grapes in batches.
Step 3
Place the peeled grapes in a blender or juicer. You can only use a juicer if it has a special mode that allows it to process seeds with seeds or if you are using boneless grapes. Switch on the device.
Step 4
If you processed grapes with a juicer, then you have separate pulp and juice separately. If you mashed the grapes with a blender, then you will need to put the resulting mass in cheesecloth or a sieve and squeeze out the liquid. Store freshly squeezed grape juice in the refrigerator.
Step 5
In the event that you do not want to use a blender or juicer, stir up an ordinary mashed potato crush. Transfer the peeled grapes to a large, wide saucepan and add a little water. Simmer the berries over medium heat for about 10-12 minutes to soften the tight grape skins.
Step 6
Drain and transfer the grapes to a bowl, mash them thoroughly with a crush. Strain the resulting mass through a sieve or squeeze out with gauze. The juice obtained in this way is also suitable for making grape jelly or jam, where this juice is used instead of sugar.
Step 7
To make wine or vinegar from grape juice, only organic grapes are good for you. Since fermentation requires the presence of certain bacteria on the skin of the berries, they cannot be washed, and store grapes, as a rule, are treated with special compounds that contribute to the long-term storage of berries, but interfere with the winemaking process.
Step 8
Separate the berries from the brush and place in a sturdy container without rinsing. Berries should occupy no more than 2/3 of its volume. If you do not have a large enough bowl or bowl, squeeze the juice from the grapes in portions.
Step 9
Decide how you want to squeeze the grapes. If you want to make a large volume of wine and you have a bulky and sturdy container, squeeze the juice in the traditional way - with your feet. If the volume you are processing is small or you do not have a sufficiently capacious container, do it by hand.
Step 10
Wash your hands or feet with soap and towel dry. It is best to use a waffle towel, as it does not leave fibers on the skin. Mash the berries with your hands or feet. Depending on the volume to be treated, this can take from 30 minutes to several hours. When it seems to you that you have mashed all the grapes, continue to squeeze it for another 10-15 minutes.
Step 11
Place the squeezed grapes in cheesecloth or strain them through a sieve. The grape juice obtained in this way is only suitable for making wine or vinegar.
