It is necessary

  • - ripe pomegranate fruit;
  • - a small sharp knife;
  • - cutting board.

Instructions

Step 1

Pomegranate is a seasonal fruit. It is unlikely that you will find it on a store shelf in spring or summer. Pomegranate fruits usually ripen in late autumn. When buying, you should not focus on the intensity of the color of the fruit. Depending on the variety, it can be either pale pink or bright crimson. The main thing is that the fruit does not have external damage: dents, cracks and scratches on the skin, dark spots.

Step 2

Before eating, pomegranates, like any other fruit, should be thoroughly washed. It is also important to prepare the necessary equipment: the knife should be small, with a fairly narrow blade and a comfortable handle.

Step 3

Place the pomegranate on a cutting board and carefully cut off the top (the part of the fruit where the flower originally came from). Carefully, taking care not to damage the grains, cut the white core with a knife. Make shallow vertical cuts in the skin from the top (from the cut off crown) down (to the base of the pomegranate fruit), while being careful not to cut the depth of more than 1-2 mm. Take the pomegranate in both hands, insert your right thumb into the hole from the cut out core and try to break the fruit into slices, as you would normally divide an orange. Almost effortlessly on your part, the pomegranate will break down into several fractions. This will keep most of the beans intact.
