Any baking is perceived as something festive, but it is obvious that the passion for such desserts will inevitably lead to excess weight. This is often due to the large amount of butter added to the dough. However, you can slightly change the recipe by adding less nutritious and healthier ingredients instead of oil.
Applesauce
Applesauce is often used as an oil substitute in recipes and is best used in cake making (especially in vegan recipes). Substitute half the amount of oil indicated in the recipe with applesauce. If the recipe calls for one cup of butter, use half a cup of butter and half a cup of applesauce. If you are not afraid of getting thicker, more moist baked goods, replace all the butter with them. This will help you avoid excess calories and fat.
Avocado
Another good idea to substitute for butter is using an avocado. Substitute half of the recipe oil for this fruit puree (especially recommended when making cookies). This substitution is done in the same way as with applesauce. Using avocados not only lowers calories, but also creates a softer and more tender dough. Plus, this butter substitute is ideal for those who don't eat dairy.
Margarine
You can always substitute margarine for butter to reduce saturated fat and cholesterol. Using super-light margarine will also reduce calories. Please note that this product usually contains whey, so the recipes are non-vegan.
Rapeseed oil
Some recipes work well for replacing butter with canola, especially if the recipe calls for ghee. Experiment with your favorite recipes to calculate the exact amount to your liking. This method is recommended when baking chocolate chip cookies with 50% butter substituted with rapeseed butter. If desired, instead of rapeseed, you can add any aromatic oil - canola, etc. Despite the high calorie content, these baked goods are much lower in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium.
Natural yoghurt
You can always replace half of the butter in your baking recipes with plain, natural yogurt. For example, if a recipe calls for one cup of butter, use half a cup of butter and one quarter cup of yogurt. You will significantly reduce the amount of calories and saturated fat. Experiment with more yogurt and less butter to see how the flavor and texture change.
Prune puree
This product is often used in the preparation of meals for young children. However, it also makes any baked goods low in calories and low in fat. Regardless of how much oil your recipe requires, replace it entirely with mashed prunes. If you don't have time to prepare it yourself, you can purchase it at any major store (in the baby food section). This butter substitute looks good in recipes that include chocolate and cinnamon.
