Then a famous entrepreneur named Palmer persuaded the pastry chef of the Palmer House Hotel to cook some delicious cake that would be small and that could be eaten straight from small boxes. It was this story that was the moment when the Brownie dessert was born.

Ingredients for a classic brownie:

  • 200 g of dark chocolate,
  • 125 g of premium flour,
  • 180 g (one pack) oil,
  • 180 g granulated sugar
  • 3 chicken eggs.

How to make a classic brownie?

  1. What's the first thing to do? Right. Melt the chocolate in a water bath. To do this, take a saucepan and pour water into it. A little less than half a saucepan should be sufficient. Place another metal container of chocolate on top of it. Turn on medium heat and wait for the chocolate to melt. Remember that the metal dish with chocolate should not touch the water.
  2. Put diced butter in a bowl of chocolate. Melt. Do not allow water to enter the pot of chocolate, otherwise it will begin to curl. Also, do not cover the dishes with a lid, as condensation will begin to form, which can later fall into the chocolate mass.
  3. After you see the butter and chocolate melted, add the sugar. Stir it well with a rubber spatula and give it time to melt. All this is still done in a water bath.
  4. Now is the time when you can finally remove the container from the water bath. Allow the chocolate to cool down a little. After literally five to six minutes, you can begin to introduce eggs. Inject one at a time, working quickly with a whisk each time. After breaking the last egg, stir vigorously. The mass should be smooth and shiny.
  5. Add flour. It is better if you sift it first. Take a wide rubber spatula and mix gently. There should be no white flour lumps in the dough.
  6. Take a small baking dish and line it with baking paper. Pour the mixture over it. The oven should be preheated to 170 degrees. Bake your future brownie for thirty to forty minutes. The cooking time may be shorter or longer, depending on the characteristics of your oven.
  7. Check if dessert is cooked. To do this, take a toothpick and poke a brownie in the middle. The toothpick should be dry if the cake is completely baked, or with pieces of dough if you want a cake with a liquid center.
  8. Remove the brownie from the oven, wait for it to cool, and cut into small squares.
