Zimtstern is a very popular Christmas cookie in Germany. It is baked from nut-cinnamon dough, cut out with star-shaped molds and covered with white sugar glaze. The preparation is quite simple, but you should be careful during baking so that the glaze does not brown.
It is necessary
- - 250 g of crushed almonds;
- - 375 g of caster sugar;
- - 4 eggs;
- - 2 tbsp. tablespoons of good quality ground cinnamon.
Instructions
Step 1
First, knead the dough by stirring together crushed almonds, cinnamon, 3 chicken eggs and 250 g of granulated sugar. You should get a pretty cool and plastic mass.
Step 2
Roll the prepared dough into a ball, place in a deep bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours. Then take out and roll out the large pancake on a silicone mat or tray sprinkled with ground almonds. The thickness of the bed is about 8 mm.
Step 3
Prepare the icing, for this beat the remaining chicken egg and 125 g granulated sugar using a mixer or blender with a whisk attachment until you get a rather thick white mass.
Step 4
Spread the icing over the top of the dough and gently refrigerate for 1 hour. Then remove and use a star-shaped cutter to cut out the cookies.
Step 5
Place a sheet of parchment on a baking sheet, put cookies on it and bake in an oven preheated to 200 ° C for 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn the glaze.
