In China, there are many euphonic and poetic names for various types of tea. One of these varieties is "Emerald Spirals of Spring", Dong Ting Bi Lo.
The name of this unique variety comes, as is usually the case, from the place of origin of the tea bush. It is believed that the first such tea was collected in Dong Ting (eastern China) next to a cliff called the "Emerald Spiral". Thus, the name of the variety, according to tradition, reflected its geographical features.
Dong Ting Bi Lo Chun is a unique drink that has gained worldwide fame over the thousand-year history of its existence. Several centuries ago, this variety was considered worthy only of aristocratic tea ceremonies: the drink was regularly served to the emperor, and ordinary people had no right to drink it.
What is the peculiarity of the variety? The region where the leaves are harvested is also important. The east of China is famous for its huge flowering orchards and fruit plantations, and the tea bush in the process of growth absorbs these fruity and floral aromas, which gives the drink a unique taste. In order for these qualities to be fully revealed, strict harvesting rules must be followed. The crop is harvested in spring, and only fresh buds and the uppermost leaves from the tea bush, which have not yet had time to fully open, are used for harvesting. Harvesting takes place at dawn, then the leaves are sorted, sorted and dried.
After drying, the leaves are rolled, and in the evening the plantation workers are already packing the finished tea. Bi Lo Chun practically does not undergo any processing, unlike pu-erh and oolong. Today it can be purchased at any store that does business with Chinese suppliers, but be prepared for the high price tag. In order to prepare just a kilogram of dry raw materials, it is necessary to collect and dry a huge amount of tea bush buds. However, there are also inexpensive varieties of this variety. The cheaper Bi Luo Chun, the less tender and young the leaves from which it was prepared are, the less careful the collection process was.
Due to the almost complete absence of processing, Bi Lo Chun has a huge amount of useful substances. The taste and aroma of this drink defies description. The drink has a general strengthening effect on the body, improves mood, relieves stress, soothes and adjusts to a meditative mood.
