If you want to try an unusual, but at the same time very tasty dish, then you should definitely turn your attention to beet pie. This dish is prepared very simply and has an unusual, but rather pleasant and bright taste that you and your loved ones will certainly like.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g shortcrust pastry (unleavened);
  • 200 g of hard cheese;
  • 150 g of cow's milk;
  • a couple of eggs;
  • 4 tablespoons of almond crumbs;
  • 250 g of boiled beets;
  • 150 g of cottage cheese (it must be soft);
  • any dried herbs (for example, oregano, rosemary, thyme, etc.);
  • salt.

Preparation:

  1. Spread baking paper on the table. Then roll out the shortbread dough right on it, which you can either buy in the store or make yourself. The resulting round cake should be 30 centimeters in diameter.
  2. Baking paper with dough is placed in a baking dish. You will need to prick the bottom of the cake in several places with a fork and make very beautiful sides.
  3. Almond crumbs are poured onto the bottom in a thin layer. It is used here only in order to absorb excess moisture, which will necessarily appear when baking beets.
  4. After that, you can proceed to the direct preparation of the filling. To do this, you need to peel and rinse the vegetables thoroughly. Then they are crushed using a coarse grater. Cheese is shredded in the same way. Chopped beets are thoroughly mixed with cheese, the filling is ready. Now you can put it in a pie pan and level the surface, while the filling should maintain a loose structure.
  5. Milk, egg yolks and cottage cheese are mixed in another bowl. Herbs and salt are poured into the resulting mass. Egg whites are whipped in a separate deep bowl until fluffy foam, they are also mixed with yolks and milk.
  6. The resulting filling must be poured into the mold directly onto the filling. Then the prepared cake can be placed in an oven preheated to 220 degrees. The dish will be ready in about half an hour.

Ready-made pie is served warm for tea. Before serving, it must be taken out of the mold and cut into small pieces with a knife.
