Many of us eat a lot of sweets a day without thinking about the harm they bring to our health. I propose to figure out what is the harm of sugar, how much it can be eaten per day without harm to health.
In order to understand what harm sugar does to our body, you first need to understand the question of what sugar is. It turns out that sugar is a product that consists exclusively of carbohydrates, and all useful substances are completely destroyed during its refining.
In general, with regular consumption of sugar, the composition of the blood changes significantly, the product interferes with the work of many organs, weakens the immune system, and contributes to the occurrence of a number of serious diseases.
In order for sugar to be absorbed by the body, vitamins are needed, especially of group B (B6, B12), but sugar does not contain them, therefore it takes them from the blood, so it is the consumption of sweets that can create a lack of vitamins of this group, and this threatens anemia (the first signs of anemia: fatigue, weakness, deterioration of the condition of the skin, nails and hair).
Sugar cannot be assimilated without calcium. It is worth remembering that sweetened cottage cheese, yogurt and other sweet dairy products cannot benefit the body, the calcium in their composition is consumed exclusively for the absorption of sugar. Deficiency of this mineral can lead to diseases of the bone tissue, as well as teeth.
Excessive abuse of foods high in sugar can lead to diabetes. The fact is that when sugar enters the bloodstream, the body produces a large amount of insulin, over time, the body may stop producing this hormone altogether, the result is diabetes mellitus.
Diabetes mellitus, in turn, over time leads to a weakening of the immune system to such an extent that it generally ceases to resist all viruses, infections and bacteria.
As for the rate of sugar consumption, for women the norm is 50 grams per day, for men - 60 grams (10-12 pieces). For your information, 100 g of raisins contains 65 g of sugar.
