Instructions

Step 1

First of all, prepare the batter in which you will fry the rolls. A special way of frying food in such a batter is called tempura. For the dough, chill the water until very cold. Break the egg into a glass, add ice water and stir thoroughly. Sift the flour into a saucepan, add the egg and water and quickly knead the dough. It should turn out to be airy, light.

Step 2

Follow the general guidelines for frying rolls. Pour vegetable oil into the high-sided skillet. There should be enough of it to completely cover the roll. Heat the oil, but do not bring it to a boil. Put some dough into the hot oil. If it boils, then the oil has warmed up to the desired temperature. Dip the roll in flour, dip in batter and immediately immerse in hot oil. Fry the roll until it is golden and crispy. Then take it out, shake off excess oil and place it on a paper towel.

Step 3

Fry, for example, the Atsui Maki roll. To do this, slice the salmon, smoked eel, avocado and cucumber into thin strips. Roll with nori, rice, salmon, eel, Philadelphia cheese, avocado and cucumber. Dip the roll in flour and then dip it in tempura dough. Deep-fry until golden brown. Cut the roll into 8 pieces and serve warm.

Step 4

Bake rolls is another option for a warm snack. To do this, cook the roll in the usual way, cut it and put caviar mixed with Japanese mayonnaise, cheese on top, and then heat it in the oven.

Step 5

Prepare, for example, a warm Akai Maki roll. Cut the salmon into strips. Roll the classic version of the nori, rice and chopped salmon roll. Cut the resulting roll into 6 pieces. Combine Japanese mayonnaise and flying fish roe (tobiko). Place the mayonnaise mixture on top of each piece of the roll. Bake the roll in an oven or roaster until crusty. Serve immediately.

Step 6

Cook a special sauce for warm rolls. Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, lemon juice, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil and then refrigerate. Store this sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
