If you decide to make pies, then make "Walnut Scallops". First, they are delicious. Second, they are easy to do. Thirdly, not very many products are needed to prepare them, and even many of them are likely to be in your home.
It is necessary
- For the test:
- - flour - 400 g;
- - butter - 200 g;
- - water - 1 glass;
- - sugar - 2 tablespoons;
- - egg yolk - 1 pc;
- - salt - a pinch.
- For filling:
- - hazelnuts - 150 g;
- - egg - 1 piece;
- - sugar - 4 tablespoons;
- - cognac - 1 tablespoon.
Instructions
Step 1
Leave the butter at room temperature for a while. Thus, it will become soft. Then combine the softened butter with 2 teaspoons of flour. Stir the resulting mixture and refrigerate.
Step 2
Pass the remaining flour through a sieve and place it on a work surface in the form of a slide. Then make a groove on it. The following products must be placed in it: water, salt and granulated sugar. Knead the dough from the resulting mass. Send it out in the cold for a quarter of an hour. After the time has elapsed, remove and roll out with a rolling pin.
Step 3
Put the cooled mixture of butter and flour in the middle of the rolled dough, cover it with the edges and fold it in four. In this state, cool the dough again. Then roll it out with a rolling pin in all 4 directions and fold it in four again. Repeat these steps 2 times, then make a layer of the dough, the thickness of which is approximately 0.5 centimeters. Divide it into equal sized squares.
Step 4
Remove the nuts from the shell and peel. The second will be easier to do if you first pour boiling water over them. After the procedures done, dry the hazelnuts in the oven and chop finely. Then combine the nuts with the following ingredients: cognac, sugar and egg. Mix everything well. The filling is ready.
Step 5
Place 2 tablespoons of the nut filling on the dough squares. Then fix their edges and brush with pre-beaten egg yolk.
Step 6
Make cuts at the fixed edges of the patties, the distance between which should not exceed 1 centimeter. Then move them apart a little so that the dish looks like scallops.
Step 7
Preheat the oven to 230 degrees. Put the pies on a baking sheet, which has been pre-moistened with cold water, and send to bake for about 25 minutes. Scallop pies are ready!
