In Russia, you rarely find fresh scallops on sale - usually they can only be bought frozen. In the latter case, preference should be given to vacuum-packed seafood that has been shock-frozen. Scallops are a little cheaper by weight, however, the taste of such a product is much worse.

Before cooking, scallops should be properly defrosted. To do this, they can be left at room temperature or folded into a bag and placed in a container of cold water. In the latter case, they will defrost much faster. It is important not to overexpose them in water, otherwise it will also negatively affect the product. After defrosting, scallops should be washed, dried and only then cooked.

How to eat scallops

You can cook scallops in a variety of ways and with all kinds of ingredients. So, this seafood turns out to be very tasty if you fry it in a pan. To add spice to this dish, scallop meat can be pre-marinated in olive oil, garlic and lemon juice. And after half an hour, fry for 4 minutes in a pan. Serve this dish with asparagus or mashed potatoes.

Scallops are no less tasty in the oven. To prepare, for example, a more dietary dish, you can wrap them in foil, sprinkle them with salt, spices and lemon juice. You can also simply place this product on a baking sheet along with your favorite vegetables, drizzle with olive oil and place in the oven for 20 minutes.

Grilled scallops are also juicy and tender. In this case, they do not require a special marinade, but they can be poured with olive oil so that they do not dry out, sprinkled with lemon juice, wine or soy sauce. Fry enough until they lose their transparency.

Some foodies like to eat scallops raw, seasoned with salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil. However, in this way it is worth consuming this seafood only if you are sure of its quality. Alternatively, you can pre-marinate it in a mixture of salt, herbs, olive oil, balsamic or wine vinegar.

Marinated scallops, by the way, can be used to prepare various salads. They go well with rice noodles, bell peppers, soy sprouts, herbs and a variety of seafood. Use a mixture of ginger, sesame oil, sugar, lemon juice, garlic and olive oil as a dressing.
