Green onions must be washed, peeled of dried feathers and finely chopped. Wash the carrots, peel and cut into slices, remove the peel from the onion and cut into rings.
To prepare this dish, it is better to use lightly salted herring. If only salted is available, then soak it. For this: the herring should be poured with milk or water (for 1 kg of fish 250 ml of liquid) and kept for at least 3 hours in the refrigerator.
Prepared herring should be cut into small cubes or large cubes.
Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the onions in it.
Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut into slices 3 mm thick.
It is better to cook this dish in a ceramic dish, but if one is not available, then you can use any dish for baking. The prepared container must be greased with butter.
Products must be stacked in layers in a specific order. The sequence of vegetables is as follows: potatoes, carrots, green onions, onions, herring, again potatoes and carrots. Each layer of vegetables should be salted. To prepare the baking mixture, mix mayonnaise and sour cream. The stacked products are poured with a mixture and placed in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake until golden brown for 1 hour. Serve decorated with herbs.
