There are several options for tomato jam: classic, with the addition of herbs, nuts and even citrus fruits. To prepare a delicacy, of course, you will have to try, but the unusual taste will delight the owners and surprise the people who come to visit.

Classic tomato jam

To prepare it you will need:

  • tomatoes 1.5 kg;
  • sugar 0.8 kg;
  • lemon 1 pc.

First of all, we choose a suitable dish, it is best to take a low and wide enamel pan for this purpose.

Then we prepare the ingredients: rinse the lemon well, cut it into two halves and squeeze the juice from each of them into the prepared dish. Remove films and partitions, and grind the zest in a blender or on a grater. We wash the tomatoes (it is better not to take the overripe ones), remove the stalks and all non-edible parts and cut them into slices, put them in a saucepan, fill them with sugar and knead them gently.

We put the saucepan on moderate heat, wait for the boil and turn off the stove, leave the tomatoes for 30 minutes to infuse. At this time, we wash and sterilize the jars.

After the allotted time, light the fire again, bring it to a boil and turn it off again, now for 40-45 minutes. If foam appears, remove with a spoon or slotted spoon.

The third and very last stage: we light the stove again and simmer the jam for half an hour, do not forget to stir so that it does not burn to the walls of the dishes.

We dry sterile jars, they should not contain moisture. We put the hot jam in jars and tighten it with sterile lids, leave it for a day at room temperature, and then put it in the cold for further storage.
