A wedding cake is the same attribute of the newlyweds' holiday, like a wedding dress, champagne or the ransom of the bride. And if you plan to arrange not just a small celebration on the occasion of the wedding, but a real banquet, then you should think about what the main dessert of the evening will be, because its composition and decor elements can tell a lot about the young.
On the one hand, a wedding cake is just dough, cream, fruits, nuts, and so on. But the culinary arts are as influenced by fashion as the styles of dresses or car models. Therefore, these days young people prefer low-calorie desserts with fruits, light creams and layers of soufflé instead of soaked biscuit. Moreover, after a long feast, not everyone will be able to withstand the test of a cake with butter cream or a thick layer of condensed milk.
In addition, since new technologies have also touched on such a conservative type of cooking activity as the creation of wedding desserts, it is worth considering that the decor of the delicacy can be made of shining mastic, translucent caramel, or applied to the surface of the cakes using chocolate velor spraying.
On the other hand, since sweet is the last item on the wedding menu, it is necessary for the guests to want to eat it. That is why the form in this case is often more important than the content, the cake must be very beautiful. Often brides want it to go with the dress. If earlier the dessert was taken out to the banquet hall only at the end of the festive evening, now it is increasingly placed in a conspicuous place, where it waits in the wings. So the cake is also a part of the interior, the general decoration of the room.
Massive cakes in the shape of a circle or heart have been replaced by multi-tiered structures, and each of the next "floors" has its own taste and is decorated in its own way. But, despite all the expanding possibilities of culinary specialists, the weight of such a complex delicacy should not exceed seven kilograms. Otherwise, you will have to use separate coasters to create the cake.
Traditionally, figurines of the bride and groom are placed on top of the wedding cake, they are usually inedible and given to the young as a souvenir. You can also often find desserts with hearts, with figurines of pigeons or swans. Modern technologies make it possible to print a photograph of the bride and groom on the surface of the cake, but not everyone likes this decoration, since not every couple is ready to cut and offer guests to eat images of their own faces.
An important role is played by the color scheme in which the cake is decorated. Contrary to expectations, the wedding planners and the culinary experts themselves warn young people against choosing a traditional white dessert, because during the shooting, the volumetric details of the decor will be smeared and lost in visual perception, and after all, in the album of each couple there should be photographs in which the young are cutting the wedding cake. Real candied flowers, culinary beads, butterflies or caramel buds have recently become popular as decorations.
