This dish exemplifies simple French cuisine, with no frills. Such a soup in France is usually prepared in cold weather, as it is quite satisfying. It will not take much time to prepare it. You will receive a very healthy, simple and delicious lunch.
It is necessary
- - 2 tomatoes (can be used in your own juice);
- - 1 onion;
- - 2 carrots;
- - 3 cloves of garlic;
- - chicken broth (for a lean version of the soup, you can use vegetable);
- - 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- 1 1/3 cups lentils
- - 3 stalks of celery;
- - salt, pepper, herbs.
Instructions
Step 1
Dice the onion, celery, grate the carrots, finely chop the garlic. Place everything in a deep, heavy-bottomed saucepan (you can use a cast iron saucepan). Saute vegetables over low heat until golden brown.
Step 2
Add lentils, tomatoes, broth, salt and pepper to vegetables. Bring to a boil. After the soup boils, reduce heat and cook until lentils are soft for 30-40 minutes.
Step 3
Garnish with herbs before serving.
