At first glance, mountain ash is not very interesting: you cannot eat it from a branch. However, the preparations made from it are not only tasty, but also extremely useful. Vitamins C, E and antioxidants for the body will not be superfluous.
We are waiting for the first frost. Rowan is a bitter berry, but frosts have a beneficial effect on it - the unpleasant aftertaste disappears.
It's delicious and easy to prepare. The proportions are as follows: per kilogram of berries you need one and a half kilograms of sugar. First, the syrup is prepared: water is added to the sugar (about two glasses are needed for the same proportions). The berries themselves are poured with the prepared syrup and left to soak overnight. How to make jam tastier? The next day, take out the mountain ash, boil the syrup, pour the berries over them again and leave for one more night. On the third day, it remains only to cook the mountain ash (the process will take about half an hour) and pour it into jars.
If the house does not have a juicer or juicer, it doesn’t matter: it’s not difficult to brew juice. You will need 2 liters of water per kilogram of berries.
Select ripe red rowan berries, rinse them thoroughly, fill with water. Bring the fruits to a boil, then squeeze them out (for example, through cheesecloth). Boil the resulting juice again - and you can pour it into the jars. If it seems to you that the drink tastes bitter, add a little honey, make the mountain ash juice even healthier.
