It is necessary

    • 1 kg of oranges;
    • 700 g sugar;
    • 3-4 liters of water;
    • cinnamon;
    • 2-3 tbsp rum;
    • lemons (optional).

Instructions

Step 1

Choose matching oranges. It is best to opt for a variety with a thin crust. They must be ripe. Wash the purchased fruits thoroughly, as the zest will also be used in the recipe. If you are concerned that the skin has been treated in some way, it is best to peel it.

Step 2

Place whole oranges in a saucepan and cover with water. Simmer for an hour over low heat. Then refrigerate, remove seeds and films and cut into small cubes. Return to saucepan and cover with sugar. Add cinnamon or 2-3 tablespoons of rum if desired. Pour in some water. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring constantly. Transfer the finished jam to jars, cool and store in the refrigerator.

Step 3

Try a different cooking method. In this case, the same proportions of ingredients are taken, but the jam itself is obtained with a large amount of syrup. Boil the oranges for three to four hours. The water should cover the whole fruit and can be topped up if necessary. Save the resulting water in a saucepan. Chop the fruit, as in the first recipe, and return to the water. Pour sugar there. Cook over low heat for half an hour, stirring constantly. Then refrigerate. If you want to store the product outside the refrigerator, sterilize the dessert jars and lids in boiling water. The jam can be closed hermetically using a special seaming machine or you can get by with a conventional screw cap.

Step 4

There is also a third method for making jam. In this case, the oranges are boiled in sugar and water and without the zest. It is first cut into thin strips and then added 10 minutes before the end of cooking.

Step 5

Lemon can be a good addition to orange jam. It will make the jam a little more sour and add flavor. One lemon should be placed on four oranges, cooking it along with the main fruit mass, according to the recipe.
