The very short season of the year is summer. I want to stretch the time of tasty vitamins as long as possible. Making jam for the winter is the best way to preserve all the best in fruits and berries.

It is necessary

  • - 1 kg of strawberries
  • - 1 large orange
  • - 1 sachet zhelfix 2: 1
  • - 500 g sugar

Instructions

Step 1

Sort the berries carefully, remove the rotten and spoiled ones. Only ripe strong berries will go for jam.

Step 2

Carefully wash the berries with a colander under running cold running water. You can simply dip the colander into a large pot of cold water and rinse the berries this way. The stalks are removed from the washed berries. Then the strawberries need to be cut into pieces. A large berry is cut into 4 parts, a medium one in half, and small berries do not need to be cut.

Step 3

Carefully transfer the berries to a saucepan, in which they will subsequently be boiled. Grate the orange zest directly into the strawberries. So that the jam does not taste bitter, you only need to rub the yellow (orange) part of the peel. Squeeze the juice from this orange into the same place. Mix everything very carefully.

Step 4

Measure half a kilo of sugar into a bowl. Take a small bowl and from the measured sugar separate a couple of tablespoons into it, which are mixed with the gelatin.

Step 5

Sprinkle berries in a saucepan with gelatin and mix gently. Then they must stand for at least 15 minutes.

Step 6

Put the saucepan with strawberries on the fire and bring to a boil. Berries should not languish so as not to lose vitamins, and therefore the fire should be intense. To keep the jam evenly heated, you need to stir it constantly.

Step 7

When the berries are boiling, add the previously measured sugar to it, mix and bring to a boil again.

Step 8

After boiling, the fire is immediately reduced so that the jam does not run away. Cook for no more than three minutes!

Step 9

After three minutes, the jam turns off, the foam is removed from it.

Step 10

Ready jam is poured hot in pre-sterilized (you can use a microwave oven) jars. From one kilogram of strawberries, exactly 3 half-liter jars of jam are obtained.
