Greek nut pie is in high demand and popularity in its homeland. Everyone who visits Greece should try this delicious pastry. If a trip is not planned in the near future, then bake this delicacy at home. I think loved ones will be delighted with such a dessert.
It is necessary
- For the test:
- - flour - 500 g;
- - salt - 1 teaspoon;
- - olive oil - 4 tablespoons;
- - juice of one lemon;
- - sesame seeds - 100 g;
- - water - 1 glass.
- For filling:
- - hazelnuts - 300 g;
- - almonds - 300 g;
- - walnuts - 300 g;
- - liquid honey - 1/2 cup.
- For syrup:
- - sugar - 1 glass;
- - honey - 1 glass;
- - lemon juice - 2 tablespoons.
Instructions
Step 1
Mix wheat flour sifted with salt with olive oil, juice squeezed from one lemon, and a glass of water. Knead the dough - it should turn out to be not only soft, but also elastic. After placing it in a dish with a deep bottom, cover it with a special cling film on top and set it aside for a while.
Step 2
Meanwhile, place hazelnuts, almonds and walnuts in a hot dry frying pan and fry, stirring continuously, for 5 minutes. After this procedure, chop them finely with a knife to coarse crumbs and mix in a separate cup with liquid honey. Mix everything properly.
Step 3
Remove the dough from the cup and cut into 3 equal pieces. Turn one of them into a fairly thin round layer and place it on a baking sheet that has been greased with vegetable oil in advance.
Step 4
Place half of the honey and nut filling on a round sheet of dough. Roll out the second part of the dough exactly in this way and cover the laid out mass with it.
Step 5
Place the remaining filling on the second layer and cover it with the last rolled dough piece. After pinching the edges of the future Greek nut pie, moisten its surface with a little water and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Step 6
Send the greek nut pie into the oven, after making small cuts on it, and bake it at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes, that is, until a dark golden crust.
Step 7
Heat the mixture of honey, granulated sugar and lemon juice by pouring into a saucepan for 5 minutes. Pour the resulting syrup over the finished baked goods and let it cool completely. The Greek Nut Pie is ready!
