This sweet bread in Bulgaria is traditionally baked for Easter.
It is necessary
- - 40 g fresh yeast
- - 200 ml of milk
- - 200 g granulated sugar

- - 700 g flour
- - 7 egg yolks and 2 whites
- - 120 g butter
- - 1 bag of vanillin
- - zest of 1 lemon
- - zest of 1 orange
- - 100 g raisins
- - 100 g of peeled almonds
- - powdered sugar for sprinkling.
Instructions
Step 1
For dough, melt yeast in 100 ml of warm milk, add 1 tablespoon of sugar, salt, 300 g of flour and knead the dough. Leave in a warm place to rise for about 1 hour.
Step 2
Whisk the yolks with the remaining granulated sugar. Melt the butter. Beat the egg whites separately from the yolks with a mixer until a fluffy, strong foam is formed.
Step 3
Add ghee, yolks, whites, the remaining 100 ml of milk, vanillin and flour to the dough. Dough out thoroughly and place in a warm place to rise.
Step 4
Rinse the raisins thoroughly and pat dry well on a paper towel. Can be mixed with 1 tablespoon flour. Coarsely chop the almonds.
Step 5
Add orange and lemon zest, prepared raisins, nuts to the dough that has come up and mix. Cover with a towel and let rise again. Then divide the dough in two.
Step 6
Braid the two pieces of dough into a braid. Place on a baking sheet with a hole in the middle and let rise slightly. Bake for 1 hour at 180 ° C. After 30 minutes, cover the top with foil.
Step 7
Remove the wreath from the oven, let it cool slightly, then sprinkle with powdered sugar on top, and put Easter eggs in the hole in the center of the braid.
