Those who have tried gingerbread cookies immediately associate them with the New Year and the Christmas holidays. This is facilitated by a pleasant ginger smell, and various forms that the dough takes under the hands of cooks.
It is necessary
-
- 125 g butter;
- 1 egg;
- 100 g brown sugar;
- 250g flour;
- 80 g of honey;
- a teaspoon of baking powder or baking soda;
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons of ground ginger powder
- 5 carnation stars;
- salt;
- 30 g ground ginger;
- granulated sugar.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut the butter into small cubes and place in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add honey to the softened butter and simmer for a little. Make sure that the butter does not melt, but rather softens. When the desired consistency is reached, remove the pan from the heat.
Step 2
Beat the egg until stiff. When the foam is strong enough, add sugar to it without stopping whisking. Add soft butter and honey to the beaten mass. Stir all ingredients.
Step 3
Grind the clove stars in a coffee grinder along with a tablespoon of sugar to a powder. Sift flour and mix with ground cloves, ginger, cinnamon. Add baking powder or a teaspoon of baking soda, slaked with vinegar.
Step 4
Add flour to the egg and butter mixture. Knead the dough. It should turn out to be plastic enough to roll it out with a rolling pin. Roll out the dough to about 0.5 centimeters thick. Use different shapes of cookie cutters when shaping the cookies. If there are no molds, cut the cookies out of the dough sheet with a regular glass. Alternatively, use a knife and diagonally cut the sheet into strips with a mesh, then it will be in the form of diamonds. You can also mold the dough into balls. Sprinkle the resulting cookie cutters with sugar and garnish with candied ginger. If the cookies will serve as a decoration on the tree, then punch holes in them for the ropes.
Step 5
Preheat oven to 180 ° C. Grease a baking sheet with butter or line with baking paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Watch the cookies and vary the baking time. When the cookies are done, remove the baking sheet from the oven and use a spatula to scoop the cookies off.
