Gata is an Armenian sweet that is prepared for holidays and celebrations. There are several options for preparing gata, it can be prepared in the form of a round tortilla, or in neat pieces. Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the dough. Mix the vinegar with a glass of warm water and pour into a deep bowl. Add oil and salt to this mixture. Slowly add 5 cups flour. Knead the dough. Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Roll each part into a ball and put the blanks in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.
Step 2
Divide 200 g margarine into 12 pieces. Roll out the cooled dough and brush with a piece of margarine. Fold the dough 3-4 times and put it back in the refrigerator for 1.5-2 hours. Do this with each balloon. Processing the dough should be done three times with each piece, each time taking it out of the refrigerator, roll out the dough, smear with a piece of margarine and fold it three times.
Step 3
To prepare the filling, soften 200 g of margarine in a bowl and mix with sugar. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Slowly add 2 tbsp into this mass. flour, and stir until crumbs are obtained. Do not use special tools for mixing, do it by hand.
Step 4
Roll out each piece of dough in a layer 1, 5-2 cm wide. Spread a layer of filling evenly on the dough and roll the dough into a roll. Take a little roll. Use a sharp knife to cut the roll into even pieces. This should be done with each piece of dough.
Step 5
Turn on the oven at 160-180 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet and sprinkle with some cold water.
Step 6
Beat the egg in a separate bowl. Grease each piece of roll with an egg, place on a baking sheet and put in the oven. Bake until the gata pieces are a pleasant golden brown.
